UFC’s first visit to Australia is set to take place at UFC 110 on February 21st 2010 in Sydney. No fights have been announced for the card so far but plenty of rumours persist. The latest fight rumor is that Michael “The Count” Bisping, as reward for his second round stoppage of Dennis Kang at UFC 105, is set to face Wanderlei “The Axe Murderer” Silva. For Bisping who’s record is 18-2 victory over Silva would be by far the biggest of his career and push him straight back into the Middleweight title picture.
The fight was first discussed for UFC 105 but Silva had just undergone reconstructive facial surgeon to reduced scar tissue and wasn’t ready to fight in time. Silva’s last fight was a decision loss to Rich Franklin in June at UFC 99 in what was a catch weight fight at 195 pounds to aid Wanderlei’s drop to 185. Silva who’s overall record is 32-10-1 is actually 1-3 since he made his UFC return, although all 3 losses were to former UFC champions, will be looking for a decisive victory over Bisping to move up the Middleweight ladder and into contention for Anderson Silva’s Middleweight Championship.
Other fights rumored for the February card include Rich Franklin vs. Forrest Griffin, Mirko Cro Cop vs. Ben Rotherwell and returns to the Octagon for Keith Jardine and Stephan Bonnar but nothing has been made official as of yet.
